I just recently received a call from my wife while I was at work, describing that she had just seen a statement of our bank account and that there was a charge of $109.95 on it that she did not know of. She talked to a bank officer and he told her it was on my debit card and that I needed to take care of it. I told her I did not know what it was from either.
I was told that the company was MWI Connections at 1-800-568-2386. I have never heard of such a company. I told my wife that it almost sounded like some dating service or something, based on the name, but I have never signed up for anything.
I can count the times I have ever used my debit card online, and the only thing I can guess is that my AOL account comes out automatically from my debit card.
I am now going directly to my bank and dispute the charges myself, as well as having them change my debit card number, and additionally, I am probably going to drop AOL and never use that form of payment again to avoid this kind of fraudulent or misuse in billing practices.
