Reordering Drafts to be Able to Charge Uncalled for Overdraft Fees

I am SO sick of National City reordering how they put debits and checks through so they can charge overdraft fees.

On Monday, my husband and I had $45 in our one checking account. We took out $40 of it, leaving a balance of $5. I checked on Tuesday and the balance was still $5, as it was on Wednesday. The $40 was still sitting there as a pending withdrawl. Why, I don't know. It should have posted the following morning in my opinion.

My husband had put gas in his truck and forgot to give me the slip so a check I had written for $64 was still yet to clear. I knew if it did it would overdraw my account but I was hoping it wouldn't until we were paid again on Friday. So I knew the account could possibly overdraw on one check and that is totally my fault.

Oh, but evil National City pulled some major crap supposedly on Tuesday, even though all was well when I checked online on Wednesday afternoon. They held the $40 ATM withdrawls, put the $64 check through first, which overdrew the account and THEN put the $40 through. So instead of having one thing getting charged the $34 fee, three items got charged the $34 fee. All three were listed as going through on Tuesday.

This isn't the first time I've noticed that they reorder the way they put things through so they can charge a ton of overdraft fees. I've had my account overdraw because they charged overdraft fees on things that hadn't completely gone through yet. I'm so sick of it. I'm so tempted to close my account but I've had it for about 15 years and my check numbers are super high now so I really hate to switch and go back to square one. Two of those overdraft fees should not have happened!!
