I applied for a student loan through a few websites because I don't have the best of credit and I'm a current undergraduate. Well, I get a call from a company called "City Lending Group" a few days later saying they will approve for a $5000 loan but I have to have a collateral payment of $911.64 to "secure" the loan. Well, I was falling for it up until they told me the only way I could send payment for the loan was by MoneyGram or by personal check. Both of which as soon as the money gets to them, there's no way back! Well, I checked into the company a little before I gave them any money. I checked the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and they only show the company as just being created in January. I check the website address, and it was just created in November! So I call the Federal Trade Commision (FTC) and they told me that any loan broker will NEVER ask for money down on a cash loan because they could just take it out of their loan amount. They told me that the company is a fake! I reported them to the FTC and managed to not get scammed out of $911. Anyone who's looking to get a loan through this company, DO NOT DO IT. THEY ARE FRAUDS! Plus - Get this, they MoneyGram account is in British Columbia, Canada! FTC says once the money goes international, it's untraceable!
