I received a bill from CBCS, a collection agency, about a legit debt. However, they were not contracted by the company that I owed money to. I was working things out with the company (which was not really owed to them), and CBCS was calling me 5-10 times a day, hangin up on me. They kept claiming I owed the money, and I asked them to please give me an itemized list from the company so that I could see what these debts were for.
I thought that CBCS was contracted by the company, so I called and inquired about it. They told me who it was from, and I called the company promptly. The company has no idea what the debt is for, and can not tell me even after 2 months.
So I turned back to CBCS and asked if they could find out. They said the would request paperwork from the company, but it never really materialized. So I called back again. This time I asked for a manager or a supervisor, and they man I spoke to, "Greg, " said I could not. So I then asked for a fax number and he would not give it to me.
A week later, they called again. This time, they called 4 times and hung up on me. I was irate and called back. I demanding why they kept calling and hanging up on me. The guy, who happened to be "Greg, " asked for my account info. I gave it to him, and he went through the "this call is being recorded" crap and told me that the reason they were calling was because my debt was due that day. I asked if they got the paperwork from the company, and he said that they would not be sending anything out anymore. Um, ok, they said they would.
He then continued to yell at me and tell me that it has been 4 years, yadda yadda yadda, and I told him that if they do not have the papers, don;t call me until you do, and I hung up. Well I received 2 more calls and I got hung up on. Talk about childish.
I finally called my brother in-law who just happens to be a lawyer. Thank goodness for that. He told me to give them his name and number and tell them "since I am inept at dealing with my financial situations, my attorney took over and is taking care of all my debts."
Hopefully this will work as I have not done this yet.
I was just wondering how many people were out there, and I would like to file a class-action lawsuit against them. I just need a few people to get in with me, and finally eliminate this bs. My brother in-law will take care of it all.
And if you did get these people off your back, would some one please let me know what they did? What else can I do? I am currently out the the US right now (I have Vonage so I can call home like I am there), and feel helpless.
CBCS blows, and I will make sure to file with the BBB and the Federal Trade Commission.
Again, I am dead serious about this lawsuit.
