Trying to collect on checks using civil code 1719B

At first they sent a few letters then they started calling me at work and harrassing my employees, then they told me they were going to take me to court and garnish my wages. Single family income and not much left after rent and bills and they want to take the food out of my familys mouths. Someone please help
