Wachovia Bank
Holding payroll checks over 10 days knowing funds are available, refusing to help. CSR refusing to give out information of Manager N

I am extremely disappointed in the services they provide. I have banked with them for over 2 years, I even stayed with Wachovia when I moved out to California in January when you had no banking institutions out there.

I deposited my payroll check Nov 25th and logged on today to see a posted balance of 841.47. I paid my phone bill for $75 and called tonight to find out when my payroll funds would be available. I spoke with a representative who told me the funds would not be available until December 5th. When I asked him why he said there are a number of different reasons, he couldn't specify which. I asked to speak to his manager and he put me on with his supervisor named Robin Poymale. When I asked her why my funds wouldn't be available she was condescending and kept interrupting me. She refused to give me the name of the manager of the department and stated no one would be able to help me. She said she would NOT release my funds. When I asked her to explain why she said it's because my account has been in overdraft. I explained that I signed up for overdraft protection so the bank doesn't have to pay for any charges that don't go through my checking, and I pay the $10 fee you charge me to transfer the funds to my checking account from my savings. She proceeded to name dates in June (of 2006) when I wasn't signed up for overdraft protection, stating that is why. I signed up for overdraft protection later to prevent that from happening and now when I deposit my payroll check they are holding it for over 10 days.

The ATM stated there would be a hold which was fine, but to hold a payroll check for 10 days and upwards is unheard of. I have my own family to feed, a job that i need to make it to every day and I can't have these problems with my bank every other week when I try to deposit my hard earned money.

I logged on today and saw a posted balance of $841 and make a payment to my phone company for $75.00. When I called tonight she told me that although my posted balance is showing $841 I will STILL get an overdraft fee. Or 'transfer fee' (since you don't charge an overdraft with overdraft protection. You charge a 'transfer' fee) when that payment goes through.
Their banking services have declined immeasurably in the past year to 2 years and your customer service has also declined. The way I was treated tonight by the representative and by the banking 'system' (whicht they blame it on) from overdraft fees that I PAY out of MY savings account. And I pay YOU $10 for is ridiculous.
Even if this was from my past overdrafts before I started overfraft protection, it's almost 2008 now and they have no right to hold onto my hard earned momey.
I have a baby, I have a car payment due NOW. Car insurance payment coming up before the 5th, RENT, food expenses, gas expenses, etc etc etc. The list goes on and on.

I head up Human Resources in the Hospitality industry and would never ever treat any of our guests or customers the way I was treated tonight. That is absolutely unheard of and I would be written up if not fired if I EVER spoke to a guest or client that way.
I asked if we could come to a compromise to work this out, she could call the bank where the check was issued from to verify funds, anything. She refused saying "I am NOT releasing your funds".. Like she had every capability to but wouldn't. And made sure to let me know that.
I will be going into the banking institution closest to my work and closing my account tomorrow. I will advise my family who will close their accounts as well, and ensure that everybody who I come in contact with who banks with you knows how I was treated.

I used to defend wachovia bank, I've referred many friends and family members to them in the past from Florida to California, I stayed with them when I was in California and you had no branches out there... And paid many ATM fees. Just from choosing to stay with them instead of going to BofA. Or another bank.
This money is something I've earned. I signed up for overdraft protection to PREVENT this. And I'm treated like crap.

I will be sure to never support their company again and close my accounts as soon as possible. Their representative REFUSED to give me the name of the department manager... That is absolutely ridiculous business practices to retain customers, and I will be sure to let everyone know.
