Option One Mortgage Corporation
Option One a deceptive practicing company that rips off hardworking people threatening foreclosure, says they'll work with you but is dishonest. Option One is a predatory lender please beware of them

I fell a victim of Option One's false loan modification "help" when I fell behind in my mortgage payments due to an injury I sustained that put me out of work long enough to make me fall behind in my mortgage payments. I notified Option One of my situation and that I was expecting Short Term Disability to kick in and then I would be able to get back on track with my payments. Immediately Option One associates started talking about "loan modification", but nothing ever came of their talk other than more talk. I never received anything from them.

Every time I contacted Option One I spoke with a different person about my situation and they could never do anything; they all sounded like I was talking to someone not based in the United States, because they always had to ask me to hold to check on whatever, or couldn't offer any information to me. They were also very rude and either unwilling to help, or not able to do more than harass someone who is just trying to do the best they can considering their circumstances.

When the Short Term Disability did arrive it wasn't enough to help me catch up. I was told as others have been told by Option One that we could work on a loan modification and also that two months of my payments would be put at the end of the loan. After one of Option One's several calls to my home I explained to the person representing Option One that I could make a payment that would make me only two months behind, but I was told not to make the payment. Who ever heard of a mortgage company telling someone who is telling the mortgage company they can pay them "not to make a payment!"

Option One required that I fax them a list of information which I complied with doing. As a matter of fact, I complied with faxing them the same information several times! Option One never responded as to whether the information was received by them or if they were satisfied with what was sent or if anything further was needed from me in order to get the loan modification finished and the harassing calls from Option One to stop. It's not like I wasn't trying to cooperate, after all this is my home!

Recently in Option One's calls to me they have been using the threat of foreclosure. I have been told that I will need to come up with the total amount due or foreclosure is inevitable. What I like to know is what happened to the loan modification?

I've been told Option One is a predatory lender and I believe it now, though I couldn't see it being true in the beginning, since they are affiliated with H & R Block. H & R Block should be ashamed to have any connection with Option One. Short of taking out newspaper ads I have no other way of warning people to one: never consider Option One for their mortgage or refinancing needs and two: Caution everyone who even uses H & R Block to think again, because of who they are affiliated with. They say you can determine what a person is like by the company they keep and I say you can determine what a company is like by the affiliations they keep.

I am in the process of trying to save my credit rating from the further disaster of foreclosure, by selling my house. I have also informed Option One of this, but true to their form, they are refuisng to give me the necessary payoff information. A foreclosure on your credit history means you will be unable to buy a house again for 10 years. 10 years!

This company needs to have a Class Action suit brought against them for their practices and they also need to be put out of business.
