My husband and I purchased a 1999 GMC Jimmy from Dahl Ford on May 4th, 05. That was financed by Affiliated Financial Corporation. The amount was 12447.50 before taxes and after taxes was 13368.47. My husband and I never received and was never told how much our interest rate was. And in case you were wondering we asked what it was and the rep responded by saying "you should know what your APR rate is already". The rep said, When you buy a car that's one of things that you ask about.
I had to get angry with them in order for one of the reps that I spoke to - to tell me... Your interest rate is very high. It will take you approx. 30 years to pay this car off because you're only apying on the interest right now. But, that's just the tip of the iceburg. Our payments were 502.29 monthly. It so happened that my husband and I were late on the first payment.
So, I called and told them that our checks would arrive two weeks late and would it be possible to make the payment then. The rep told me that I knew that my payment was due on 6/18/05 and that I wasn't holding up my part of the deal.
I called Affiliated Financial and told them that I wanted to make a payment of 502.29 and the person on the other end asked if that was all that I was paying and I said to him (Rep) that I realized that I had a late and wanted to know if I could pay the 502.29 with my check and send the late fee by mail. The rep said you can but it won't help you with your account much. I said what do you mean and he told me that my husband and I owed 1000.00 and some odd dollars.
I got pissed off and slammed the phone down. Two weeks later my husband and I made the payment of the 502.29 plus late fees which cost an extra 100.00 odd dollars according to the rep. I have receipts so I didn't care much at the time about them saying that we owed 1000.00 dollars.
Well, if this wasn't bad enough things got worse. The thousand dollars that they say we owed them caused our account to get all screwed up. The current balance went from 12168 to 13000.00. None of the reps that I spoke to knew what the other rep was talking about. One said to me, your account is okay the other said your account is past due.
They threatend to repo the Jimmy many times. They harrassed both me and my husband day and night about payments even after we told them that were having financial difficulties and would be willing to make arrangments with them. After dealing with them for six months I had just had it. They were very rude and uncaring.
I didn't want anything to do with them anymore so one day when they called and threatened me with reposession I told them to come and get the vehicle. All of sudden they didn't want it and was willing to work out a deal. I asked the rep that I was talking to could they come and get the vehicle and hold it until my husband and I paid up the past do due that they said that we owed, and she said yes, we can hold the vehicle for two weeks.
So, I said come and get it and within two weeks we will get it back. It was susposed be a deal but two weeks later they had sold the vehicle for 5000.00. Now they want us to pay them 7000.00. The truck had been in the shop three times since I had it and was always stopping and running hot. The air conditioning stopped working shortly after we bought it.
Now you do the math. Was this car worth 13000.00 dollars. Please beware. Affiliated is not the financial company to deal with because they are swindlers and crooked individuals.
