While attempting to pay a bill today, my check was declined. I had the funds available and was told to contact Telecheck. After several long attempts to reach Telecheck, I finally got through to a human. I was told that I wrote a bad check to Walmart. I was given the date, check number and amount. While I was on the phone with this very RUDE person, I brought up my checking account online and the check had cleared my bank! I informed this person of it clearing and she said well you wrote the bad check and you do have a history of doing this! That is why your check was declined. I informed her again the check had cleared my bank and she said I had to pay a 25.00 fee to Telecheck to get my check writing priveledges back on 7-27-07. I had no choice but to pay this and then she charged me an $11.95 fee for PAYING the fee.
She also informed me that I could not write a check anywhere that uses Telecheck on ANY CHECKING ACCOUNT I have. That also means my husband can not write a check either because my drivers lic is on both of our checking accounts. Of course, by this time I was absolutely furious and ask her what law gave them the right to do this to anyone. She could not give me a law and would only refer me to the 800 number for Telecheck. I was so furious I forgot to get her name. This is not the first time I have had this problem.
It does not matter to Telecheck if you have funds available or even if the bad check you supposedly wrote has cleared your bank. These people need to be brought down a notch or THREE and put in thier place. They have no right by any law to do this and we need to ban together and put a stop to this major RIPOFF.
