Con artists that promise loans for a down payment then take your money and run ripoff

Like the poster above, my father had the same problem with this alleged business. He found an ad of this company in the paper and decided to give them a call. After being guaranteed a loan of $5000, he was faxed a 10 page contract which he did in fact sign and sent it back to a Hope Hudson. He was given three different phone numbers and the people he dealt with were Hope Hudson, Kathy Martin and John Edwards.

After that, he was told to wire approximately $454.17 to a Scott Foltaro in Iqaluit, Nunavut, Canada as a down payment. I don't know much about loans since I haven't ever taken any out, but I was skeptical of this "down payment" idea. I was under the impression either you get the loan or you don't get it at all.

On July 12th, he called Kathy Martin at 11:30 A.M. From work and she told him that once the money was wired, he would receive it at 11am the next morning. The money was sent on July 12th at 4:40 P.M. The money was taken within the same hour it was sent. Then the next day when 11 A.M. Rolled around, there wasn't a dime of the $5,000 which he was promised from this so-called loan.

My father had that day off and he called Kathy Martin, Hope Hudson and John Edwards every hour during business hours and none of them even answered their phones or returned any phone calls. He tried again at work today and apparently all 3 of their mailboxes were full, so he was unable to leave anymore messages to them. The introduction letter lists a Nicole Conner as the President/CEO of the company although I am not real sure what help that is at this point.

It's real unfortunate that I didn't run into this sooner, because the message above was posted 1 day before my father wired the cash to that clown. Ugh! The only way I found this report in fact was by doing a search on the address of this so-called business. Another number that I should put down is (800) 405-9109 since that number is yet another one of their company numbers that they could use in the future. Can anything be done about this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
