My hell story reads like this, My house was paid for when I took out a home improvement loan. I inherited it from my late Grandmother. Somehow it turned into a mortgage. Grant it, I was young at the time (21) and didn't quite know what was happening.
Well I couldn't afford to pay a mortgage at the time and my home was almost foreclosed. Ocwen buys my home from Washington Mutual to prevent me from filing bankruptcy while adding an additional $4000 to the mortgagte. Then they put me in forbearance. Desperate to save my house, I agreed to the forbearance for one year at $850/month from $500/month. I asked why did my mortgage jump up and they said it was procedure. Again, being young and desperate to save my house, I agreed.
I also owed property taxes. I had arranged for a 3rd party to pay my taxes and I was put on a payment plan to pay the tax company back. I was almost finished paying back the tax company when all of a sudden, Ocwen steps in and pays them in full and charges me an additional $2000! Ironically, this happened in the last month of my forbearance. I was shocked they did that without my consent.
Now my mortgage is $822 per month when it was supposed to have gone back down to $500 after the forbearance. How could this happen? Customer service is not cooperative at all. I have been ripped off because they know how much this house means to me. I have a negative rating on my credit report because initially, I never could afford a mortgage this high in the first place. Ocwen is a ripoff and is doing illegal mortgage practices. Someone needs to stop them now!
