My husband bought furniture from Ashley Furniture, which was financed through Citifinancial Retail Services, on a "no interest for 2 years" plan. We were going to be overseas on vacation for the month of April, so I mailed in a check for two payments, for March and April.
We had a statement waiting when we returned from overseas stating that we owed a payment for the month that we were away.
When we called Citifinancial Retail, we were informed that they have no provision for us to make any payments ahead of time, so therefore we were considered late with the April payment and had to get a payment mailed in immediately, which we did.
Then the next statement arrived to show that we had been charged a $39 late fee. Plus we were charged interest on that $39.
