How do we get our money back, any suggestions Ripoff

I too was taken for over 8000.00 dollars. It was borrowed money from a family member who now will not speak to us because we can only afford to make payments on this money. How can these people rip off so many people and not be accounted for? Does no one care? Will no one help us to get our money back or is it okay to ripp off good people? If any one has any idea on how to retrieve any if not all of our money please help me.
