Providian is a lying co. I WAS 1 AND 1/2 month late, due to being ill and out of work. I had called them to make arrangements to somehow keep my good credit standing. The lady said if i give them a _&post dated _check for $72. Dated for the 13 th and another for $73 dated following week and a promise to some how get another payment of $72.
Before the 27 th that my account will be under the limit (of which it only got over because of their fees of yearly memebership and late and overlimit fees were added for 2 months. So i gave her over the phone 2 _post dated_ checks as she said i needed to stay in good standing one for the 13th of june and another for the 21 with the promise of getting the 3rd check by the 27th. So she had my 2 checks numbers ect right.
Well it was very hard to do but i did borrow to help keep my post dated checks good, thinking all was well and i had good credit with providian and my card still active. After the 13th I CALLED to see if the payment was ccleared and was in shock when the girl said my account was closed.
I SOON found out that the very day they cashed my $72.00 check that was post dated was the very day they closed my account.
Why they insisted for the post dated checks and lied that
my account was in good standing, then close my account the same day they got my money? After that I WAS SO angry, I DECIDED that being they lied to me and closed me, I WAS NOT GOING to let them use my 2nd post dated check (which was hard for me to), I decided to stop payment on the 2nd post dated check. Even if it cost me bank fee. They sent me a letter still not saying they closed my account after my makeing arraingement, demanding I REISSUE THE 2ND post dated check;.
I am a sr. Citizen have been ill and have been laid off work, so discusted at the lies they told me, I BELIEVE the fees and overlimits are in access of my never getting caught up. My account was paid always on time except for april may. What to do I DONT KNOW.
But i am glad to vent some steem on rip off credit cards. I also have another providian mastercard of which they
are pulling shenaginins too. It has always been on time and always under the limit. When i call to check on it it says your next pmt amount and date due. So i have been paying that, but today they said y payment went from 15 to 70$
I checked and found out they added $59. Membership yearly fee and that made it over lumit and then they charged me overlimit fee. It seems that thats another way of them gouging us.
I AM sure there must be some laws governing how they can add these fees on. Even thou it was the yearly card fee that made it go over limit / there must be a limit of how many overlimit fees and late fees they can impose on us poor suckers. Where is the laws of use? And or interest high use rates?
I once thought providian was the best / but any bank that says give them post dated checks and it saves your account and then closes the day they cash your check/is a vulcher. Thanks for ripoff. Maybe someone can see that PROVIDIAN is hell credit.
I HAVE read a lot of your other mailers/I agree and would love to join a class action against or move to form some gov issue to govern the credit co. We are at their mercy.
