Beginning in May I checked my credit report and found that I had been sent to collections by NCO. Upon calling the company I found that the reason was due to an emergency hospital visit while working on Louisiana. After speaking to several people I was given the address in which the collections bill was sent - this address is a place I have never heard of, resided at or can even find on any map.
The agent on the telephone stated to me that once I paid the account I could dispute the entry on my credit report by providing proof of address. Being naive I paid the account and began the process of sending in proof of address. This last time I was requested to send in my tax return, which the FTCA advises against due to the high amount of personal information.
It is now February and I have provided this information to NCO on five separate occasions with no result. They refuse to accept my proof of address for the period and have not sent request to remove the account from me credit report.
It should be noted that the same hospital stay incurred another bill that was sent by Central Finance Control. Upon contacting this group, my issue was address upon first response and the entry on my credit report removed within 30 days.
Is there any advice on how to proceed? I have filed a complaint with the BBB and the Attorney State General. And the FTCA states that "under section 15 U.S.C.? 1681s of the FCRA, a wronged party may collect $1000 for each wilful or negligent act which results in the violation of the FCRA. Any person may file suit in local court to enforce the FCRA." Is there anyone with similar experience that can lend me advice on how to move forward? I simply want this removed off my credit report and NCO will not comply, although I believe they are in violation of the FTCA.
