Accelerating loan, returning payments but acknowledging payments sent, not replying to email or phone calls

We are 7.5 years into a 15 year loan with Vanderbilt Mortgage and Finance on a doublewide that we purchased from Luv Homes.

We have had some rough patches, my husband was out of work for awhile, trying to catch up from that, I was out of work for awhile on FMLA during the birth of both our boys. So we have had some slow pays.

I wish I had together all the crap that these people have been throwing at us. But what is funny is that is seems it has been only within in the last year. An example, in the summer we received a letter from them saying that they would default our loan if we didn't get out payments up to date by a certain date. We complied with this. Now this past November 20? Or so we received a letter from them that they were accelerating our loan and by the end of November, they wanted the total amount left on the loan.

At that time, October payment had been sent in, in the time that it took to send Novembers payment, they acknowledged but returned October's payment saying they couldn't process the payment at this time because they wanted the account brought current. I sent them a letter with October and November's payment saying that our account was now current with these payments.

Now today, we receive a letter with Oct and November's payment saying that it was acknowledged but they couldn't process the payments at this time. This is what the same letter said when they returned Oct. Pymt. Only this time the letter said reason was "other" and nothing was explained. I called the 1-800 number on the paper and it was for the legal dept.

December's payment is on it's way, so will that be returned as well? I plan on resending the October and November payments Tuesday via delivery confirmation.

I have sent numerous emails to the contact us on their website. I always get an automated reply that they will contact us within 2-3 days. They never have. They never have called even when I asked them to.

We have been advised by family to seek legal counsel. To get all the paperwork together. I have also started to look into refinancing.

I also can concur with the other people on here that they are very mean and rude especially one individual. Well two.

I will say that when I wrote to them requesting that they stop calling our house and our families houses, they did.

I am thankful to see that we are not the only ones being harassed by these people.

I had signed up for automatic draft payments but after reading someone's horror story on here, I quickly resended that. I don't doubt that they would take extra payments. I have sent them a post dated check so the payment would be there on time. Don't you know they cashed the check immediately and caused this check to bounce in our checking account! I have not sent them another payment on time since that time but it is always within a week or two of that due date. Only because I can't trust them to cash it on the date. Last I checked that was illegal. I do have that proof.

My husband is upset because they sent the two payments back they will try to say we are behind. They can't do that if we have the papers where they acknowledged the payments. I told him about this website and he seems to feel a little better knowing that we are not the only ones dealing with these people.

I also plan on submitting a complaint on their website and with the Better Business Bureau, FTC and our state Atty General.

Anyone wanting to chat about this I would be appreciative... We welcome any and all advice. Thanks.
