We made the mistake of re-financing our mortgage with Ameriquest in 2004. At first things seems to be moving smoothly, the first warning was when we were not given a copy of our appraisal, asked for it 3-4 times. We are in the process of re-financing to get a 30 fixed rate (NOT with AMC). Our mortgage person got a copy of the title and asked why we had our (my husband and myself, son was on the title) names removed. We said we did not, the title was in my son's name only and we did a quit claim to add my husband for tax purposes. It seems AMC did not do what they told us, they said all 3 of us had to be on the title, so we signed papers and assumed we were all 3 included.
It turns out they REMOVED our names and only left our son on, what if something would have happened to him... This has delayed the whole re-finance process because we now how to do another quit claim and get the title back in all our names.
I am also filing a compliant with the Attorney General's office.
