Promised representation to the IRS for owed taxes after I paid they have filed for Bankruptcy ripoff

I had paid the company $4500.00 to represent me in settling my tax debt with the IRS. As of August I have paid my money, submitted all my paper work and modified my finances, income, and family life to better my chances of minimizing my amount owed to the IRS.

I was told by my represenatives (employees of The Tax Relief Network) to do all of the following: Have my wife quit her job, purchase two new vehicles, at one point I was told that if I had kids this would help my chances even more, by having more dependants.

After two years of constant "run-around" no returned phone calls and I begin to investigate what this, and other agencies like them actually do. I have come to find anything they did for me was something I could have done on my own.

I also had the Tax Relief Network (TRN) prepare my taxes for the years I owed to the IRS. I am a Professional Firefighter in Southern California and I am entitled to tax write offs that were not included in my prepared returns. I would have been able to pay of a lesser amount owed had my deductions and write offs been taken when the TRN prepared my taxes. As a result of the high amount of money owed from my ill prepared returns ($60,000) and the "dragging" of feet on their part I have now been charged over $12,000 dollars in fines and late fees for a total of $72,000and growiing.

The Tax relief network tried to constantly get me to do all I could to slow down the IRS in hopes that I would never pay the IRS. I was told if I did the things they recommended I would not have to pay for a total of 10 years, at which time the statute of limitations runs out and the IRS cannot collect. At one point the "Professional Tax Represenative" of the TRN that I worked with even dropped my case. I only became aware of this fact after I tried to contact him and I was told he left the Country. I had to start over with a new "Tax Professional Represenative". Of course, all I ever heard from him was how I had to do the same things the last "Tax Professional" told me. I had to consistently profess my case to the TRN, letting them know my only interest was to pay of my debt honestly.

Because of the slowed effort on their part I have not been able to purchase a home for my family, nor have I been able to get out from under the debt that I had hired them to assist me with. I have been told they would represent me in all capacities of my tax case and now I just received a letter that the TRN is filing for Bankruptcy.

I am now just left out in the open with no help what-so-ever. The Bankruptcy hearing is January 10th. At this time the notice I received regarding the bankruptcy recommends I should get an attorney to protect my interest. I do not even know where to begin with this case. I need help.

I am a hard working firefighter, just an every day person whose is trying is take care of my financial responsibilty, take care of my Wife and take care of my Son and Daughter.
