On November 17th. I was contacted by Peter Anderson, so called loan rep. About a loan I had applied for, but as it turned out I hadn't applied through their scam outfit at all.
I had been shopping around for loan to consolidate all our debt so I'm not sure if they got my information off the internet or through another organagation I had contacted.
I was faxed the loan agreement for $25,000 to look over with my husband over the weekend and on Monday November 20, I faxed back the signed agreement.
Mr. Anderson contacted me and said I was to wire $1125 by MoneyGram which would have been the first 3 months of payments for colateral up front. (which now I know is illegal)
A Mrs. Beverly Reid (which I'm sure isn't her real name either) was suppose to be the loan agent to pick up the money and the $25,000 was to be deposited in our bank account by midnight same night... Of course the money never was deposited.
I tried to call them all day on Nov. 21st and 22nd which all I got was an answering maching asking for my name. At that point I knew we were scammed.
I have sense then filed a written police report, filed with the Better Business Bureau in California, which I don't even think they are in California. The state police tracked the money being picked up in Toronto Canada.
I also filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Com. I had to close out our bank account and open a new one and put fraud allert on our Credit.
And would you belive some idiot from there called me again on the 27th asking for more credit information and money... Which I think he got the message that there would be no more money or info.
Claimed I still could have the loan and they were out of the office for the holidays. Was the reason they could not be reached. I may have been stupid once, but not the second time.
This has put a horrilbe hardship on my family. We have been trying to consolidate our debt and now we are in more debt and over the holidays with the stress and worry of identity theft.
I do hope if enough people who have been scammed by these jerks file a complaint, that it will prevent someone else from making the same mistake we did.
I have always been trusting of others, but I will have to say I will probably not be so eager to trust again for anything.
