Americredit bought Bayview Bank and thinks it can go after anyone who used to owe Bayview Bank money. My debt to Bayview Bank was discharged by a federal bankruptcy judge in 2003. Today Americredit is illegally harassing me for the amount charged off in bankruptcy court in 2003.
I have explained this over the phone to them twice a week since I received a letter in late October and four phone calls from them. My lawyer says it's not worth the hassel to reopen the case unless it goes to their collection agency.
How many other consumers are being treated the same way? The law says they are subject to penaltys and fines. They are messing up my credit report by reporting this old debt as a new and different charge-off. I have disputed this with the credit bureaus.
