I obtained a pay day loan from Cash Transfer Centers and then found out that it is illegal to get more than $300 for a California payday loan - they gave me a loan for $500 the first time and $900 the second time. I then also found out that they were charging illegal interest rates - the laws in California say you can only charge 15% of the loan amount in interest and/or finance charges - they were charging $135 for a $500 and $240 for a $900 loan.
Both of these items are illegal in the state of California. I advised them that I found these things out and that they did not have permission to pull funds from my account until I filed my complaint and found out the details. They pulled the funds anyway and I am now in the process of having the money put back in my checking account by my bank - hopefully that will happen.
I will also need to change my bank account and send them a letter saying they do not have permission to garnish my wages.
