Washington Mutual Bank
WAMU Theft by Taking ripoff

I'm sick and tired of being taken advantage of by banks that we entrusted to hold our personal funds.

These days we are charged for every little transaction.
I am appalled at receiving a $30.00 NSF or Overdraft charge for checks in amounts significantly less than $30.00' i.E.; checks written in the amount of $1.00 being charged $30.00 in fees, that's insane.

The fact that, if a consumer writes a post-dated check to a creditor and the creditor sends the check in before the date the check was promised, why should the consumer be penalized for the blunder made by the creditor, be it intentional or unintentional? Don't you think that the creditor should be held legally liable?

If the consumer overlooks a deposit or transfer of funds that was suppose to occur two days prior to the transaction in question, the bank should not be able to charge fees on their end and the creditors shouldn't be allowed to charge a fee on the other end. Seems a bit illegal doesn't it. Even murderers can't legally be tried twice (double jeopardy) for the same incident.

This is a copy of the letter I sent to my institution;

Dear Sir or Madam:

This is of grave importance.
The problem; my checking account was illegally debited by over 15 creditors. Each of these creditors was allowed to debit my account two or three time each session. I cancelled the online order before 6/7, but the drafts were sent in anyway.

The problem; we can't seem to come together on is: This account was supposedly closed by me on 06/06 or 06/07. I misplaced the paper where I had notated the young female representative name. I know I verified with her, that the records were definitely noted the account to that effect. She then, informed me that it might take a day for the process to be completed. This was done with all my trustworthiness. My positive balance was $1.08 at that moment. I'm thought to myself, I'm glad this is finally over and done with. Now, my next step is to make sure and double check that those creditor accounts are indeed closed and the orders cancelled, as I requested.

Two days later I checked my on-line account again and surprisingly noticed that there were more NSF or overdraft charges added to the account leaving the account with a negative balance once again. This is the second time I have tried to close this account. There is no legal way you could possible say that your bank was not at fault in this situation. I conformed to the terms and conditions as requested.

At the very least, I should have been informed on 06/06, (when my request was made to close the account), that there are pending charges on the account and the fact that Washington Mutual does not close any account with pending charges on it. Where did this appear in my contract? I was informed of this fact on 06/12l but certainly not at the time the request to close was account. If I were apprised, I would have definitely stopped at that moment and paid the applied charges, at that time. I conformed to the terms and conditions and I went through the process the way I was suppose to do. What more could I have done?
Please reinvestigate the situation; I'm sure you will agree with my conclusion.

I like Washington Mutual Bank but personally I really can't afford your prices. I've already paid in blood. You wrongly transferred almost $500.00 out of my savings account, which I intently chose not to be connected to my checking as overdraft protection option. That particular situation before 06/06, I will take on the chin.

Your conglomerate is far too well known for its growth. Hopefully it has not been made off of the backs of your many indigent and unaware depositors. Some of those illegal withdrawals before 06/06 were made by the creditors, were definitely not my mistakes.

I won't pay the secondary set of NSF charges, from 06/06 to now. I am positive this was a ridiculous oversight.

Please refund all the extra monies you confiscated from my savings account, to cover the negative balance in my checking account, back into my savings account, so that I can finish paying the rest of my now overdue bills.

Thank you,

Duane
