Sprint PCS And Calvary Portfolio Services
Conspiracy to collect invalid debts Ripoff

On June 28 I received a letter from Calvary Portfolio Services stating I owe Sprint PCS $1348.66 for a cell phone account I closed in good standing back in 1998. It makes no sense because that's EIGHT years ago and I haven't had any further contact from Sprint since I closed the account then this letter shows up in my mailbox asking for a ridiculous amount of money. I don't even have any entries in my credit reports from Sprint. Wouldn't you think during the course of 8 years I would have received at least a bill or some form of attempt from Sprint to get me to pay?

This setup is obviously a conspiracy between Cavalry and Sprint to fabricate invalid debt collections in hopes that people will actually pay it. I mailed a letter to Cavalry to dispute the debt and to ask them to validate the debt. Cavalry said it will be 30 days until I get a response. Cavalry also wanted me to provide a phone bill from 8 years ago. Who keeps phone bills from 8 years ago?

I've made a dozen calls to Sprint PCS asking them to validate the debt and I constantly get the run around and I get referred back to the collection agency. Sprint tells me they have archived the records because it's been so long (8 yrs). The only information Sprint can come up with is they show my last bill as $45 in June 1998, that is the month when I closed the account. They have absolutely no proof or explanation of where this debt was accumulated other than we say so.

Needless to say I do not owe this debt and I absolutely will NOT pay it. I have a 750 ISSAC score and I pay ALL of my debts, so obviously I don't want my credit to go south because of this.

I've contacted my attorney, but basically we are in a waiting period to see if the debt can be validated, then I will decide if it's cost effective to pay him to file a case and take this matter to court. He is currently looking into a class action suit against Sprint. The only way this false debt COULD be validated is if somebody fabricates a batch of fake paperwork.

If anyone with consumer law knowledge has any advice for me, I would gladly appreciate the help.
