Complaint / Review
Universal Fidelity
Ripoff, Fraudlant Collection Practices, Fair Debt Collection Practice Act Violation

This company hires rude representatives who repeatedly call my teenage daughters cell phone, seeking debtor "Mark Allen, " a reported Massachusetts resident. This debtor has apparently defaulted on his Home Depot credit card.

We are Indiana residents, and don't have a clue who this person is! Despite informing the rude and obnoxious Universal Fidelity resentatives of this fact multiple times, they insist on harrassing my teenage daughter, and wasting time and our mobile minutes with repeated and worthless attempts to collect a debt on a Massachusetts resident!

This is a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act!

Of course, no one (Home Depot, Citibank, or Universal Fidelity) will take ownership of how the error occured, or is willing to do anything to correct it!

A Universal Fidelity representative, at one time, verbally confirmed our number had been removed from their files, but still, the calls continue. Yesterday, I was told that it was my problem to correct, not theirs!

Here's my attempt to correct it!: If you are a business looking for a collection agency, I'd steer clear of this one! They will compromise your company and afflict you with potential liability no reputable and/or ethical company would want.

I may not be able to stop the heinous calls, (though it's serving to provide documentation to support legal action!) but I will certainly place my honest and hard earned money with companies (and their representatives) that will act responsibly in correcting the errors that do occasionally occur.

It's not a crime to make a mistake, but the difference in reputable/ethical companies and slimy ones are how they handle correcting them!

Home Depot seems oblivous and uncaring in assisting me to call off their dogs that are barking up the wrong tree! Unitl then, Lowes and Menards will reap the benefits of their unwillingness to correct this mistake!
