Complaint / Review
Ocwen Federal Bank
Predatory lender!

In Feb. Of 2001 I sent my bank money order to Ocwen to pay my mortgage payment. The money order was written out by the bank as Ocwen.

In April I was informed by Ocwen that they did not receive my February payment. That was two months later and two payments later. I proceeded to send Ocwen a copy of my money order receipt to prove that I had made a payment.

In May when I called again to find out about the situation I was told that the copy of the money order was not what they needed. I was told that I needed a copy of the cashed money order. I preceeded to call my bank and get a copy of the cashed money order which took about a week and and fee of $5. I faxed the copy to Ocwen.

In June I called Ocwen once again to find out what was happening and I also received a lawyers letter. First Ocwen said that they did not receive the fax copy so I faxed it again. Then I had my lawyer draft a letter responding to Ocwen's lawyers letter and had my lawyer include a copy of the cashed money order.

In July I called Ocwen and was told that they were investigating my claim. I was also told to send another copy of the money order to the research department. I did that.

In August I called Ocwen again to find out what was happening only to be told I need to fax another copy of the money order to another person in the research department.

In August I was told that I have to contact my bank and find out who cashed the money order, when and where the money went. So I contacted my bank. They said that they would do the work and get back to me.

I got back to my bank in October only to find out that they did not know who I talked to or what I was talking about. I started the process over again to find out who cashed the money order, when and where the money was.

It took until March I received the money in my account and I contacted Ocwen to send them the money and have them take the late charges that had been accrueing since February off my account.

I talked to Mr. Furman in March regarding the late charges and was told to send in proof of my claim. I once again contacted my bank and a week later I received the information in the mail. I promptly sent this information to Ocwen and tried to call Mr. Furman.

In April I called received a letter saying that Ocwen researched this situation and I was a fault for them not receiving my payment. I called to speak to Mr. Furman only to find that he no longer works for Ocwen. I spoke with another manager and was told basically that I am liable for $200.00 of the $351.61 late charge and he was being nice by taking $151.61
of the late charges off. It was a long and arduous conversation which amounted to me having to pay $200.00 in late charges.

I will be contacting someone over this manager's head to get the other $200.00 taken off my account but I have never been shuffled around and screwed so bad by a company. I did not choose Ocwen, my account was sold to them. I am forced to stay with them until September when I will promptly go with a real bank that does not see its customers as money makers

Also I placed a complaint with the FTC. If you are having a problem with Ocwen complain to the Federal Trade Commission. They have a website so you can fill out the complaint form online.
