To whom it may concern,
I bank with Compass bank and have never had a problem depositing my husbands payroll checks. Me and my husband went to the bank as ussual to deposit his check on 4-29-06. The bank was closed so we both signed the check and deposited it into my account thru the A.T.M. I have some serious medical conditions going on and have had to quit working and I have had to go to doctors atleast once a week I had a biopsy done for fear of cancer. My husband has had to take time of of work to take care of me. The copays for all of this add up quite quickly. So Long Story short the bank lost my deposit I have had to borrow from friends to go to my Dr. Appts. Etc. I have now late charges on my rent, my utilities etc. And have had to cancel some of my Dr. Appts due to I don't have the money. Now I have called the branch where we made this deposit and have been told everyday basically sorry we couldnt deposit the check because we had no proof of who you were. My husband signs his checks over to me and I then put then in the account. Never been a problem. I have been told by the branch manager sorry we mailed it back to you. It is now been over a week and I still have not recieved my check back. I have called the bank on numerous occassions to find out where is it. And all I ever hear is sorry we don't know.
First I was told it was mailed out on Mon the 30th. Then I didnt get it so then I was told oh well it didnt go out untill Tue. Then when it still didnt come I again called and was told Oh well there was a problem in the mail room so it definately was mailed on Wed. Well Now they say they mailed it out certified mail last Tue the 2nd. Now this branch is only 1mile from my house I have talked to the mail man and he says no there has been no certified mail come thru for us and that If it was indeed sent out certified mail it would had been here the very next day.
Anyways the bank has basically told me sorry checks in the mail.in the mean time I am incurring negative charges on my accnt. And late fees for my utilities, Rent etc. Then to top it all off. The following week when my husband and I went down there to cash his next paycheck (as a whole week has went by since they lost the other one). The branch manager told me she is not going to cash my check because I have been rude to them over the phone. And told me she is going to cancel my account with the bank. After all they are the ones whom lost our money! I have asked to speak to her boss and she tells me she is the boss. She will not give me the name of her Supervisor. And has done nothing to settle this.
I have called the 1-800 customer service line for Compass bank and all they do is say yes this is absolutely wrong but still nothing is being done. I have asked for the number to Corporate and am told there is no Corporate office! I am at my witts end I feel that they have stole my money approx. $500.00 and they don't care. As a matter of fact they wont even put a tracer out to see where it is in the mail. They told me it is my fault because I should have not deposited the check there without my husband. Well my husband was with me when we did this and all they have to do is look at the camera on the atm. It is my checking acct. And he was with me when we deposited it. So I am out not only $500.00 But I have overdrafts on my acct now. And late fees for my bills. I don't know what to do. My husband's work is now trying to track the check down to see if it has been cashed. It seems the bank should had been doing this. Can you please help me. At this point I don't even know who to talk to. And really am not sure if my account is even still open. I have given up on calling them because I am always told somebody will call you back. But they never do.
