Vanderbilt Mortgage
Vanderbilt Clayton ripoff

I will start by saying I made by way to the sales center in Crossville, TN. Looking for a home for me and my husband. I actually found one that I fell in love with and was in my price range. I took my husband back the next day for him to decide on and as we arrived noticed a woman in the same house. We didn't think to much about it. We both loved it and we decided to tell them we wanted it as we did the sales rep Eric Garrett informed us " uhh oh that woman just bought it"

So less than 24 hours they sold the house I told them we were interested in. Well the proceed to tell us they had this other house which we looked at and was a little bigger and more expensive but the sales rep said " oh since that woman bought the one you were intrested in we will knock off 2,000.00 which I thought at the time great what a deal.

Now looking back on it. It makes you wonder if that woman really bought the house we were orginally looking at. Maybe it was Eric Garretts mother. Because all I know is it took her less the 24 hours to buy and it took us nearly 2 months to purchase.

The sales rep also stated that he would put a dishwasher in for me which it didn't already have and I wanted it to and also he would put a washer and dryer in for nothing because he said " that every new buyer gets a free washer and dryer". Which I seemed to think was pretty nice. But when we went to sign the papers no where did it say anything about washer and dryer. I spoke up and said something to the manager and he said "oh I didn't know anything about that". Just some more lies. After confronting him with the sales rep they finally put it in the papers. Glad I noticed.

The doublewide was set up almost a month and half after actual purchase date which was crazy. Its not like the had to build it. That is what I thought Manufactured home meant. It was a hassle and I was actually making the first payment before the house was even brought to are land.

Now, about Vanderbilt Mortgage. I didn't have any problems but almost a year of making my payments on time. My husbands sister died and he took off work of course and we got 1 MONTH behind. They called my mom, his dad, my aunt, my work and everybody else that they knew about. Which was very annyoying considering I had explained to the account rep when payment was going to be made. They got very personal wanted details about my sister-in-laws death. And ask me to ask local churches for donations or a family memeber. Which was belittled me greatly and made me feel worthless. They were very rude. I told them why payment wasn't made and didn't know I had to give a detailed story about funeral times, arrangments, and how a person dies to a mortgage company.

Then got caught up and was making my payments on time every time. And it was coming straight out of my checking account every two weeks. And my mother, my husband dad, and my aunt got a phone call from Vanderbilt Mortgage saying my payment was late. Which it wasn't. I called them and they told me it was a mistake on there part. I asked them to call my family back and tell them that it was a mistake and they would not. The only call your family when they think it will benefit them.

If you are a first time home buyer please consider before you look into Clayton home and Vanderbilt Mortgage. BEWARE of the hassle.
