I was trying to refinance my existing mortgage. A web search took me to Quicken Loans. I was contacted by them. I gave them all of my information. They assured me they could work miracles. They quoted me a mortgage plan, interest, closing costs etc. It sounded like what I was looking for. They said they required a GOOD FAITH deposit of $500 to lock the interest rate. They said they get so many calls they can not waste time on deals unless they know the person is truly interested. I asked if I would get my deposit back either way. They assured me I would. They said it all depended on the appraisal. I asked if I had to pay for the appraisal. They stated repeatedly that it would be of no cost to me.
Long story short the appraisal did not come in at what they needed. They would not approve the loan and guess what the $500 was for appraisal fees. What a scam. They are liars and thieves. Do not deal with them. I am not going to give up. I am going to keep calling until they agree to refund my money. If any one else has had any expericnce with this let me know.
