Disputed Settlement Payment and Daily Collection Calls

My account was turned over to a collection agency, Ventus Capital Services. I agreed to pay in two installments. Citi Card has acknowledged receiving the second payment, but not the first one.

I have tried several times to speak with their representatives, and every one of them has been very nasty to me. They call my home every single day, late at night, and now they are calling my job. I have told them this account is now under investigation, but I am still getting calls.

I have sent them statements from my bank and statements from Ventus showing the account is paid in full. However, Citi Card is now denying knowing that company. This has been going on since February. I have sent letters twice to Citi Card, and no one is responding to them.

I feel I have been scammed, either by Citi Card or by the collection agency. Now I will have to pay my hard-earned money to hire an attorney. It is just not fair. Any suggestions?
