Ripoff

I paid household/orchard bank in full 8-6-04 when i retired acct. No. I called them to ask what the pay off wasthey said 987.47 which is the ammount i sent. Now they have sent the account to a collection [makes3]they say i owe them 728.00 i have sent them a copy of the canceled check 3 times it has the same account no. As the one the letter i recieved today. This is ruining my credit please help me out if you can
