We had refinanced our home in 2001 and our lender was Equicredit, we had no problem with them until they sold our loan to Fairbanks/Select portfolio. Once it was sold to that company we started having problems. They stated we had missed a payment, I sent them copies of all of my cancelled checks and asked them to show me where I had missed a payment, they could not show me, we then started having all these late fees added on and I questioned that and they stated because I had not been making my regular monthly payment.
They also put on fees of a 150.00 for sites visits, I asked what that was and they informed me that they had done site visits to my house to make sure we were still living in it because we had not made our payment on time, which was not the case. One month they had four site visits down totaling $600.00 in extra fees. They put forced homeowners insurance on us even though we paid for it on our own. Good news is we worked with this one bank and they got us away from this company in October but only after it has ruined our credit and we are now not able to get our daughter a student loan beacuse of this Fairbanks/Select
