I requested my annual credit report and was surprised to find a collection dating from 2004! I have no outstanding current debt.
I called Excel and requested information regarding this account and the date of the last activity and proof the debt belonged to me they hung up on me. I called 2 more times and again they hung up on me. I called one more time pretending to want to pay whenI requested the proof of debt again they hung up on me. I wrote them letters requesting proof of this debt in accordance with the fair debt collection law they refuse because they know this if fraud and the debt does not belong to me or is past the statute of limitations for fair collections. I just got a letter from them that they will try to get a judgment against me for this debt. So I tracked down the company they say they represent First Omni, and I have found out that they are no longer in business proving this is not a legal debt. First Omni sold off old accounts years ago and they were sold off again and again over the years and there is no proof this was ever my debt. If it was my debt it is well past the statute of limitations for fair debt collections over 15 years. These people are unscrupulous and deciptfull in their tactics..
