In september of 1999 my husband and I bought a new home. We held a 2 year land contract with the builder.
In january my mother in law passed away.in february my father passed away.
On june 30 my husband passed away. 44 years old. He was pitching in his softball game. His team was up to bat. He ws sitting on the bench. He went down, out and gone. Irregular heart beat.
I was not in a big hurry to move. My children were grown and I really did not know what to do.
I saw an Ameriquest ad. Merideth came to visit. I owed 119000.00 on my home. They would give me a loan and if my payments were never more than 30 days late they would refinance me. 8.5% intrest was high but my debt to income was not the best since my household income had just been cut to 1/3.
Well they only charged me 11000.00 to close my loan. Now I owed 130000.00 but I could get a much better rate in one year. Just hang in there for one year.
Well I hung in there for that one year.in june my new appraisal came in at 148000.00. They said I needed more equity so ameriquest sent another appraiser. My home was appraised at 175000.00 Just 2 months later.
Yes, yes you can have your new loan. Don't even worry about making your payment this month we will roll it in to your new mortgage. (josh b.)
Well I am not a wealthy woman. The money could be used on other bills. My son had an emergency. His fiance was with her parents in fla. She was in the hospial in a comma. Very sick. I loaned him the money to go to fla. To be with her. After all I was closing in just a few days.
Friday 3:30 just couldn't come soon enough. The title company was accross the street from where I worked. At 3:00 I called to make sure that everyone was coming and that the time was still 3:30.
Well oh no, we can't close on your loan. Your payment is late. That was the beginning of many many conversations with Ameriquest.
I tried to get a forebarence. I wasn't ready to give up my mother-in-law my dad my husband and my home in the same 2 year span of time.
They said I faxed papers upside down. (kinkos faxed them. I do not belive they faxed them upside down) Ameriquest sent me one paper that had to be back to california by 3:00pm. I told them that I worked 2 jobs I would get it from kinkos and fax it right back as quickly as possible. I did that but they said I was untimely and could not have the forebarence. We are not talking days here. I don't remember exactly how late but it was the same business day. I belive it was minutes. Possibly an hour.
Yes Ameriquest did foreclose on me.
I'm glad to see people fighting back. I did not have the strength at that time in my life.
To be fair to the grand rapids office johnathon, josh, virginia, kim, sharon, titania, tammy, greg, regina, kelly, ron all worked in california. I think they were all at the orange ca office 92868. I know some of those people are no longer employed there
