CCA sent me a credit card on October 22. I called to find out more information believing it was an actual credit card. Having recently filed fraud I was excited to receive a credit card being that it has been hard for me to get any type of credit since that point. I was very confused about what CCA was offering and activated the card, unknowingly. After reading more, talking to my husband and thinking over everything, I decided to cancel the newly activated account, the same day.
I was told by CCA I had 12 days to cancel from the activation date. And was given a phone number to call to cancel accounts.
Within a few hours of activating the card I called, the phone number given to me, to cancel my account. To my surprise the phone number I was given did not work.
I then wrote a letter of cancellation and sent it to the return addresses shown on my original letter sent from CCA.
I never heard from CCA. So I assumed that my cancellation letter was received and my account was canceled.
On November 4 an unauthorized amount of $199.99 was debited from my banking account. Unfortunately this transaction was not caught until a few weeks later when I received my monthly account summary. I contacted the bank immediately. They did credit me the unauthorized amount back. But because I did not know that this amount had been taken out several checks were returned for lack of funds. Total return checks amount to over 15 and the fees well exceed thousands of dollars. I now owe the bank for the return check fees, each time they ran a check through my account I was charge a $30 fee. Plus the original amount of each check and the return check fee from the company to which the check was written. The total amount as of today equals over $7500.
This company has caused so much trouble. One unauthorized amount debited has now caused a seven thousand headache!
I have kept every letter, sent to or from CCA regarding this situation. And I am ready to have fixed this mistake!
