I recieved the card yesterday and immediately was suspicious because of the activation fee, the fact that it is only for their merchandise, and they have no online presence (apart from this wonderful site). Thank goodness I am a cautious person. This is a clever scam in which the company can drain your checking account and permanently damage your credit.
I think they solicited me because I just applied for car insurance and a loan. Being a recently arrived citizen (May) I have no credit history and have great diffuculty even getting a cellphone (someone had to guarantee it for me). This means that geico or someone else sold my information to them.
I would like to know where the regulations are for lying scammers like these! Aren"t we working class people marginalized enough without having to fend off thieves who want out hard earned money?
