Complaint / Review
Ameriquest Mortgage
Disclosure of information, derrogatory statements, interferring in a contract, possible false net worth filed Ripoff

(1) During my process of borrowing / refinancing a house I was requested, or suggested, to give flase information to insure my loan approval.net worth after calulation didn't seem high enough to the lending agent so he suggested a number about $30,000 higher than the totaled amount on my application. What finally was sent forward to the underwriters was never disclosed to me. The whole process, although avertised as being as short as a week, took almost 4 months of angonizing paperwork and trying to keep track of who was handling our loan request. One thing after another kept coming up to delay the closing. Several times we were even at the offices of a law firm to complete the closing only find out that the closing had not been scheduled with them at all or some other piece of the pie wasn't there. And as in many of complaints about Ameriquest, there were many complications trying to get a competent appraiser.

That never happened and the house was actually under valued compared to what an appraiser had valued it at just a few months before. Way under valued. That was in late 2004.
(2) Now in I had a contract with another individual to buy that house that was financed through Ameriquest. Right off the bat some of the paperwork that Ameriquest should have filed with the county in Texas regarding my refinance, could not be found. More leg work and phone calls on our part to try and sort it out.
Then, in statements from the people who were under contract to buy that house, who happened to also be using Amerquest to try to finance it. Ameriquest lending personnel disclosed that the process to close on my loan was hampered, by what they said was my lack of cooperation last year. They also painted a picture of me as being hard to deal with. Along with that, they made comments that led to the buyers going and signing a contract on a more expensive house with another selle. They even suggested according to the wife, in the now disputed breach of contract, that they not even tell us that they weren't going to honor the contract on our house.

So now I'm in position that I have to purchase the services of an attorney to try and inforce the contract. So, I'd suggest that anyone interested in getting mortage financing of any kind, take their business somewhere other than to Ameriquest.
