Wells Fargo Bank Texas, N.A
Ripoff sham. If you have the time, Let me tell you

My husband and I have been with Wells Fargo for seven years now, and in the beginning everything was fine. Two years ago we moved from Texas to Oregon. Lucky for us Wells Fargo is nation-wide right? Not exactly. See, since we opened our account in Texas it takes Wells Fargo any where from 3 to 10 days to post even cash deposits. Countless times we have been charged overdraft fees for charges to our account made a day or more after a cash deposit (we know better than to deposit a check). Funny thing is that every time we call the bank to dispute overdraft charges due to their inability to post our deposits we are charged two dollars to talk to a person who refuses to reverse the banks fees.

Twice within the last two years they have actually lost our deposit. A couple days after making a deposit I always call the bank to tell them to post it if they have not done so already. Well, a couple times they have claimed to have no record of a deposit and we had to fax our receipt to a long distance number and wait seven days for their investigation. What is there to investigate if you have a receipt? The second time it happened we went to the branch and showed the original receipt to the manager and still had to wait out the seven day investigation. One time we made a cash deposit on Friday which just happened to post immediately then went grocery shopping and used our check card to pay. Well as it turns out the courier had not picked up the money bag to go where ever it goes and so they reversed the deposit on Saturday and overdrew our account for the groceries we had bought plus a 28 dollar overdraft fee. We went to the branch that we made the deposit at and the manager apologized and admitted fault, but said our account would not be posted until Tuesday because the courier was not going to do another run until Monday afternoon. As for the overdraft charge of 28 dollars, he could not reverse it because they only allow one reversal a year and we had already had one (due to another bank error of course).

We have also had countless problems with our bank card not working. I always check my online banking before I use my card to make sure that all deposits have been posted and my card still gets rejected. And it always happens when the bank is closed so I have to call their 800 number and be charged two dollars to find out why I can't buy a box of cereal with my card when I have over one thousand dollars posted in my account. Every time I call them about some bank error I tell them not to charge me for the call and they always say that they won't, but then they sneak it in anywhere from a few days to a couple months later.

In the past few months we have gotten used to their ways opened a checking account with a new bank and now only use our Wells Fargo account for pre-authorized debts. So generally there is not much money in the account. Unfortunately, we also have an auto loan through Wells Fargo. We did not apply for our loan through them; they bought the company that originally had given us the loan. Recently, our loan payment was past due - this kind of thing happens to everyone at some point. They did not call us or write us a letter; they just took over 700 dollars out of our account to bring our loan up to date. We had no idea they were going to do this or even the knowledge that they could do it. We find out about it because our pre-authorized debts started bouncing and Wells Fargo wanted us to deposit more money. I called Wells Fargo to find out why this big unauthorized withdraw was allowed and they began to lecture me on paying my creditors. On top of that I then had a bunch of overdraft fees to pay because someone else overdrew my account without my knowledge or permission.

One time we had a check card that was old a worn so we ordered a new one to replace it. First they charged us five dollars to send us a new one. Then they immediately cut off both of our cards (not just the one we wanted replaced) and then it took two weeks to receive the new one in the mail which didn't have a visa logo on it so we could use it for anything but the ATM Machine. We were both working full time so for the two weeks that we were without cards we could not get to the bank during business hours so we could not get any money in or out of our account. I called them to turn our cards back on and the banker said that the de-activation was not reversible and we would have to wait for our new card.

Now we are living 35 miles to the closest Wells Fargo and do Wire Transfers from our local checking account to Wells Fargo.in addition to the 15 dollar charge that is mandated by some government agency to perform a wire transfer, Wells Fargo also charges an additional 10 dollars just to accept the transfer into my account. So basically, I am charged 25 dollars to make a deposit. There fees for using other banks ATM is an outrageous 2 dollars in addition to the 1.50 to 2.50 that the other bank charges. So just to access my own cash I might have to pay as much as 4.50.

Together with these high charges for phone calls, ATM usage, etc. Combined with all of the charges acquired due to bank error, I honestly think my relationship with Wells Fargo has cost me more than my taxes in the last two years. Well, now I am gong to go through the trouble of contacting my creditors that have pre-authorized debt through my Wells Fargo account and have them switch to my Washington Mutual Account so I can leave that sham of a bank for good!
