I was called in Oct. Of 2004 by a representative for Discover Card. They had asked why I never use the card and I told them that their interest rates were high.
Upon hearing that, they offered me a balance transfer rate of 2.9% and also told me that upon credit review I would be able to get my new purchase rate around 12%.
I agreed to this and have used the card several times since then. I just looked at my bill and I am still at 19.9%. I called to talk to three of the rudest customer service people ever. They said that they are sorry that I was told about a better new purchase rate by the representative but unfortunatley, he was wrong.
They already pulled a credit report on me in March and went off of that report to give me my rate.
So, of course, I was treated like a bastard step child and told several times that "sorry, but no one here at Discover can do anything for you".
That really sucks Discover! Most credit card companies are absolute crooks but wow, I have never been treated so terrible buy someone in customer service at any card company I deal with.
I spend a lot of money on my cards for my business and pay them off in a timely fashion.
60 days at most for my bills. They have lost my future business and I will most certainly be canceling the card once I have the balance transfer paid off.
Do yourself a favor and go with American Express. They have been nothing but great to me since I have started with them.
Citi Bank sucks / Discover sucks and the rest of them suck.
