I had a message on my machine after work from these people. I called them back, and found out the call was about an old medical bill for $107. I had insurance when this visit took place, so I was leary of what I was being told. While I was on the phone with them, I checked them out at the Massachusetts Division of Bank's website, and found out they are not licensed collect debts here!
I told the lady on the phone and first she tried to lie about it and say "Oh, we are licensed nationaly". Bull, I clean up people's credit at my mortgage company all the time, I know these laws better than she does. Then she just hung up on me while saying "that's an EASY way of getting out of paying your debt".
Uh, no honey. That means I am filing a complaint with my state agencies, and as of Monday morning, have already contacted the original creditor to pay the bill to the hospital directly. They assume that we are as stupid they are. I encourage any othrt Mass residents out there with similar dealings to file a complaint to the Mass Division of Banks as well. I won't rest until this company is served an official Cease and Desist from the state.
