Ripoff Poor Customer Service Causes Bad Credit

In May my account was overdrawn by $120 for the first time in several months and even years. I deposited my fiance's payroll check for the third time at the same ATM on a Saturday $358. The following Monday it was posted to my account which I proceeded to withdraw $160 that was to be given back to my fiance. Shortly after I noticed on my online account information that the check had been reversed out of my account resulting in a deficit of approximately $638.

Again, no notification, I had to contact the credit union myself to ask what happened. I was told that they do not accept third party checks and if I wanted to be able to deposit them in the future he would have to be added to my account. I was unable to do so as my fiancee has damaged credit from a previous divorce. The person assisting me had told me that they will only deposit a third party check once as a courtesy but could not tell me why it had been successfully deposited twice before. I then spoke to a customer representative at the information desk to find the check so it could be taken to my fiance's bank and be cashed so I could quickly get it deposited as this left me financially devistated.

I was given the 800# and called a representative when I got back to work and was told that the check was in the San Bernardino Office and I could pick it up prior to closing at 6pm. I left work early to get to there office and explained to the representative at the information desk the situation. She looked it up in the system but nothing was noted. She called the office that would have possession if it were there. Nobody could find it or tell me where it was. I went home to call a customer representative as I was angry with all the run-around. The representative told me I should have read and known their policies. I have been a loyal customer for 10 years, I hadn't had these problems until now. My checking account has never recovered and the continous overdrafts were depleting my account even further. I tried several times e-mailing and on the phone about the service I was receiving and asking why nobody could have attempted to notify me either by phone or mail after the second deposit that they would accept no further third party checks. I was simply told that they do not send out notifications and that they make too many phone calls in the day to be able to call everyone. If either could have been done, I wouldn't have had to borrow money to get my account up to date finally. I have even attempted recently to change banks but am now finding out that I have been reported to ChexSystems and will not be removed from my record for 5 years. This credit union that has not only ruined me financially for the last 8 months and now has ruined my credit.
