Unscrupulous dealings with, they tried to make me lie on the application!

I decided to act upon a phone call from this company to get a debt consolidation loan. After 3 months of faxing and talking and many income related questions on my part we had come to some finalizations. I had asked several times if my low income would prevent me from getting this loan, the answer had been a repeated "no, not at all" kind of statement.

We set a date for an exterior appraisal which was 395.00 dollars according to the company yet was only supposed to be 325.00 according to Centex. It came in at 10.000 dollars less than what the city had come up with just three months before that.

When the closing finally came up the loan person called and said the underwriters were questioning my income. The loan officer told me I needed to call a coworker and have them tell one of the underwriters a ficticious amount of hours that I usually work to compensate for my income level.

I told the loan officer that I was uncomfortable lying about that. He said he was going to talk with his supervisor and his supervisor would call me back to see what we could do about the income problem. Needless to say I have yet to receive that call.

I wrote them a letter stating the injustice, registered mail, and demanded that my money for the appraisal get reimbursed. Someone signed for it but no one has replied. Do I have any rights regarding this?
