Tax Ready
Extended Warranty for Who? Nationwide Ripoff scam from

I heard an ad on the radio of a company called Tax Ready that claimed it had former IRS agents who could save you thousands on your taxes. They offered a free cassette tape. I called to receive the tape. I was given a pretty good sales pitch on how they could save me money. But I would have to hurry to get my 1999 taxes amended before January first.

I said I couldn't afford the 995.00 they wanted to do those returns and my 2001 taxes. He told me that If I would pay half they could get started right away and I could pay the other half in a month. If I wasn't satisfied in 30 days I was guaranteed a full refund. I skeptically went along with it. They offered coaching calls with CPAs and help with tax saving strategies.

I set up an appointment for a CPA coach to call me two days later. No one called. I tried to contact them for two hours and all I could get was voice mail. Finally 3 hours after the appointment a customer service person called and told me I could talk to a coach immediately. After talking to this guy for 45 minutes and answering a bunch of questions the guy said "there is nothing I can do for you. I sell a package that helps people become self employed. I'll connect you with another coach." I already am self employed.

I called back later that day and said I was canceling that this is not what I expected and I am not satisfied please give me my money back! The representative told me I would need to put it in writing and fax it to the Compliance Officer. Which I did. I was then contacted by the compliance officer Dexter Moore. He begged and pleaded with me to give them another chance he said "if you will give us another chance I will offer you an extended satisfaction guarantee of one year. I'll just keep your cancellation right here in my file. If there are any missed phone calls or any problems, at all just call me, and I will refund your money. I'll have a coach call you right away to get you started. I reluctantly agreed.

That evening a guy called me and said "We've looked at your returns for the last three years and it looks like we can get 2000 dollars back each year for you. The problem is you've only paid for half and we'll need the rest right now if you want us to get your money for 1999 before January 1st". After his pressuring and convincing I let him take the other half of the money. That evening I grew more concerned. I realized I hadn't even given him my returns for 1999. How did he know I would get money back?

I called Dexter Moore the next day and said "I want to cancel. No one is helping me with my taxes they are just trying to get more money from me" He said "Ok, I'll put the paperwork through tomorrow."

After 10 days and no refund I called and talked to a customer service representative.

I asked her "What is the status of my account?".

She said "My computer shows that it is cancelled and you are to get a refund, and that could take up to 30 days."

I waited 35 days and no refund. So, I called and asked where my refund is. Dexter said "Oh I just did some paper work on that you should be getting it in about 15 days."

I called a couple of days later because I didn't believe him. They said that Dexter had been fired and you would have to speak to Rich Redick who has taken his place.

He wouldn't call me back.

Now the Customer service representatives James and Justice say that because I agreed to accept an extended warranty and, because of the wording of the warranty, I wouldn't be eligible for a refund until next December. Extended for them or me?

They have provided me with no service no updated tax returns no coaching calls. And reasonably so, they agreed the service was cancelled.

Please help me get my money back and warn others. These People are Baaaaaad.

I filed a complaint with the Las Vegas Attorney General today.
I told Tax Ready I was going to and they were not concerned.
Sincerely,

John Winter
