Places that you can not BUY CHECKS listed as tho you can buy American Express Travelers Checks.
I have one grip so far about where to buy the checks as most of the so-called "locations, " such as in banks,
you have to be a member of the bank to buy the checks.
Most of the FAULT should go to the banks and their Juvenal policies, but the other 49% should be American Express themselves for LISTING these NO selling locations as place you can buy AETCs, when you really can not buy at all, unless you want to open an account, just to get the checks. They should not list them at all, unless they state the draconian bank policy to require membership in the bank's private cartel.
About 80% of the banks here in Wichita Kansas (may be less in other demographics) that. Pretend. To be selling American Express Travelers Checks, that not only require potential buyer to be members, they try to charge 2% fee.
One of the places that require bank membership is Fidelity Bank (s). They are not only rude when they find out you are NOT a member of their exclusive bank, they say 'We do not sell travelers check to non-members.%u201D (more than one teller and some kind a cartel manager.)
Another is Commerce Bank (s) which would not sell more than a $500 limit for non-members! So in order to get $2000 to $4000 worth of AETCs one would have to drive back to their bank 4 to 8 different trips. A total waste of time, fuel and adding to green house gases.
I finely found Entrust Bank (s) to sell to us non-members without any policy limiting amounts we can buy.
They even knew how to fill out the checks correctly so as not wasting time and checks.
If America Express is going to LIE about locations that sell their checks, when in fact these private cartels do NOT SELL, if the potential customers are not members of the cartels, they should at least list the membership requirements. OR do not list these places as locations that sell the checks.
AE should want to make more money, rather than raise the fee, just do not waste potential customers time and fuel, by doing RESEARCH on banks that just try to lure in new customers. And learning... How to... List honestly.
