Bank of America
Modified mortgage loan process - mortgage

I'm appalled at the utter incompetency of this major institution. Over one year ago I contacted Bank of America to discuss modification of my mortgage after my divorce. After months of submitting and resubmitting various paperwork, they told me in June that I was approved to enter into a "trial period". I had to pay this lower modified amount for three months and everything should be fine. I did so, meanwhile there records reflect that I'm behind on my payments because I'm not making the normal mortgage payments. I've never been late in 15 years and this hurts my credit even more. After September I was notified that it's in closing and the closing department was having difficulty with the fact that my ex-husband didn't sign the modification papers. I explained that I was the owner and had all the paperwork to reflect it. Well they still haven't decided what to do because apparently, I'm the first divorce to ever happen and they're too stupid to figure it out. On top of that, I just received a letter stating that I "declined" the modification. When I called asking what this meant, I was told that one of their vendors sent the letter out by mistake to many people and that I now have to go through an appeals process to get back into the modification program. When I went ballistic and asked for the highest level of supervisors I could talk to, I was told they couldn't give me the number because it was against policy. I could only contact the loan officer's immediate supervisor. I have never been late in a mortgage payment in 15 years. Well they're not getting another penny out of me until they clean up their own mess.
