I received a Household Bank Master Card in June of with a 1.9% interest rate for 6 months. From the beinning, they overcharged interest, credited payments late. This happened nearly every month. I called (useless), emailed (nearly useless) and finally faxed them with my detailed demands for adjustments, and ultimately got them to credit my account. I paid off the account in full this month, sent back the cutup card, via certified mail, return receipt - and, again, they credited the payment late.
I just received a bill for a $35 late fee, and $12.70 interest! I am mailing them a check because it is just not worth my time to continue to deal with them. I believe they do business in a way that is intended to rip off their customers, believing that most people will not go through the extreme effort that it takes to deal with them. The most amazing thing is that after a lengthy conversation today attempting to have the bill adjusted the man actually had the remerity to ask me if I have a car loan and whether I would like to change to Household Bank! I would never do business with these people again.
