I received a check in the mail for 2500.00 with a credit line of 3000.00 from Household Finance. I have good credit and needed a little extra $ at the time so I cashed the check. I have had this loan for a year now. I paid on time, until this year. I got layed off, lost the next job, etc. No companies have hours to give, etc.
So I called them told them I'd pay but late, of course 15.00 late fee, and then collections called about 25 times that week. My payment was $128.00 a month but the guy said "Can we set up a payment of $256.00?" I said only the 128 is overdue not this and next month's.
I told him I didn't have the money, he said why not? How much do you make? Spend on shampoo? Food? Bills? He wanted to know everything. I told him I don't have a job right now. I am looking for jobs, when I get the $, you'll get it, but first, paying my car insurance before it goes illegal, and eating are first priority. I've paid late the last couple months now, but get it in before the 30-day late mark before they ruin my credit. I sent them in a partial payment and sent the rest later just to have them shut up for a little while.
Same guy (almost always foreign collections people I don't have anything against, but you can't get them to understand you and they don't listen to you) he said (like I was stupid and didn't know this) "you only sent in 13.00 you know that is not the full amt." Well duh! Everytime they called, where is $, when, and why not? I gave them my boyfriend's # once because I needed them to call me back, and told them 5 times since and he's told them 15 times not to call back there again, "she doesn't live here!"
He has kept track of about 70 calls about 5 a day 9am, 12,2, 5,7, 9 pm and told them "for the fourth time, no I am not her husband" and this is harassment, quit calling, but yet they just called again. I told them quit calling, check your records you see I've been paying, you should be happy you are getting 15.00 late fee, a 10.00 over the phone fee for same day payment and interest on the 15.00 and still getting your payment, I have talked to them over 20 times and everytime the person wants you to explain why and where $ is, I said you keep notes in your computer look, the one lady was so nasty to me that is what I told her, I said I don't have a job, applying everywhere, need $, she said "I suggest you look for a job" I said you aren't in my situation.
She said "don't tell me I have never been in your situation" she said, you need to get a job and send in the money, so nasty, she said when? I just told her I don't know but you'll get it. When? I told her when I get it you'll get it. When? I don't know, I'm not psychic. I told her I have 100.00 coming. She said send it. I said I can't have to pay car insurance do you want me to lose my license, and then can't get to new job and then you don't get anything.
They even called me at my former workplace and about got me fired for a personal phone call. You tell them what is going on, they don't listen. I say trust me you'll get your $, and they do, late, but they get it. I also told them calling me, harassing, 20 times a week is not going to make the $ come any faster, but yet they ask the same question, over and over, when they already know the answer.
