Email asking for personal account information

I did not respond to this email, but feel the need to warn others. Identity theft is running rampant and these thieves will stop at nothing to get to you. Here is the text of the email I received:

"Security Alert: Please read this important message

Our new security system will help you avoid frequently fraud transactions and keep your investments in safety.
Due to technical update we ask you to confirm your account details. This process is mandatory, and if not completed within the nearest time your account may be subject to temporary suspension.

To securely confirm your details please follow the link below:

(I intentionally left the link out)

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter."

I do not, and have never had an account with this bank.

Please warn your friends and relatives not to respond to these emails.
