We booked for Groupon Offer for Three Course Set Lunch For Two at the Washington Mayfair Hotel Groupon Value £57.90 with a Glass of Champagne
We were early and so spent sometime walking around area and looked at lunch menus and most of them we looked at were £9.99 for two courses and prettily laid out with white cloths and some set on patios outside restaurants!
We walked in The washington Mayfair to be pleasantly greeted by waiter who said immediatly "Groupon" and showed us to an area segregated from the main restaurant but nicely laid out with a paper menu for set meal - it was priced at £19.95 per person NOT with Groupon.
The Starter i chose was Salmon Terrine and arrived with a garnish of inedible salad leaves with no dressing on whatsoever. My husband chose Vegetable Soup it was fine
The mains was a choice of 3 either Roast chicken Leg with Pumpkin Mash/Hake with shredded leeks/Vegetarian Dish
I Opted for Chicken and my husband the hake.
We asked the waitress who spoke quite poor english "does it come with vegetables" she replied that it did as we noticed additional vegetables were £4.50 each portion. Both meals arrived mine just small leg of chicken and pumpkin mash plonked along side of it it was laughable looked like dinner i give grandchildren -no garnish which is what i would have expected from them - my husband ate his with just a few shredded leeks. When I asked the waitress where were the vegetables were she said she would ask chef to make up a green salad. Forget it i wouldnt eat a salad with a roast dinner roast potatoes maybe a few beans and carrots but salad no-way its lazy on the chefs part. Desserts were slice of cappuchini cake again plonked on plate dry and hubby had lemon meringue.
Small glass champagne and we worked out if we had the lunch without groupon it would have cost su £40 so where did the Groupon Value come it meant champagne was £17.90 then.
We will go again to one of the restaurants in surrounding Shepherds Market not there!!
