I own three samoyeds from this breeder - all of which I love dearly - (all of which have health issues). My first samoyed I bought from her was diagnosed with hip dysplasia. Mild on one side only. The vet, a very reputable one, told her that it was genetic and unfortunately it happens. He was from a large litter and is a very large samoyed (not overweight - big in size) and this may or may not have attributed to this condition. She did not want anyone to know. I told people and this made her mad. She posted on her website, on his page, that he had it due to lack of proper care and poor food. She stated that he was 15 lbs overweight. All of which was lies. My dog is a healthy, well taken care of finished Champion who has never been overweight! After being called out on it and threatened with a lawsuit she removed his page completely. Her website does, to this day, state she has never produced a dog with hip dysplasia which is just one of the many fabrications on her website. She hides health issues and blames others when things come up. She cannot be trusted. Her website makes it sound like she has this whole team of people running a kennel. The fact is - Susan Black is sole owner and operator of Hawkwind Samoyeds. She runs it out of her house and it is her main source of income and has been for years. She talks about all the winning her dogs do - well if you produce as many dogs in one year as she does - you would have those records too. There are many great samoyed breeders in this country who do believe in ethics and honestly - do your homework if you are looking to buy. Understand any contract you are signing - before you sign it.
