Horrible Customer Service and Lies From Direct TV

From day one Direct TV and their representatives have misrepresented themselves and the companies services. When I first signed up for Direct TV, the sales associate told me that I could upgrade to HDTV at ANY time without additional charges. This has proven not to be so and when I addressed this issue with the company, and the BBB, nothing was done. I reluctantly upgraded to HDTV and come to find out, a NEW 2 year contract was added to my account, without my knowledge or approval. Furthermore, they increased my rates and changed my contract. I was sent a letter notifying me of an option to opt out yet they refuse and are charging me a $300 early cancellation fee. When I tried calling customer service, the people seemed less than intelligent, told me that there was nothing they could do, and suggested I write the corporate office since they do not have a phone number. I would never recommend this company to anyone else and will never use their services in the future. I never experienced these problems with Comcast and regret changing companies.
